About Us... Founded in 1962, Shine Rural Volunteer Fire and EMS Association, Inc. has provided protection to the citizens of Shine Township located in western Greene County, NC. In 1969, the department added an ambulance to provide medical services. Today, the 42 members provide fire protection, extrication, and Advanced Life Support to a 20 square mile area along US HWY 13. We operate with 43 members, 2 engines, 1 rescue, and 1 ambulance and average 275 calls to service per year.  Become a FIREFIGHTER !!! We are always looking for volunteers! Shine Fire and EMS will provide training and equipment at no cost to you. If you have a desire to serve your community and like working as a team, we have a spot for you. If you are at least 16 years old, we encourage you to apply today. We also have an EMS affilliate program, which allows you to provide EMS without fire training, a Junior Firefighter program for ages 14-16, and a fire department auxillary.
